Common questions

Who qualifies for the free Community tier?
Verified 501(c)(3) organizations registered with the IRS, accredited schools (.edu / .ac equivalents), and registered NGOs in other jurisdictions all qualify. Public-good projects without formal registration can still apply — we review case-by-case.
Do you require an EIN?
Yes, for US 501(c)(3) applicants — your EIN (Employer Identification Number) is what we verify against IRS Pub 78 to confirm tax-exempt status. International applicants substitute their equivalent registration number.
How long does the application review take?
Most applications are reviewed within 5 business days. We do not auto-approve — every Community-tier application is reviewed by a human at Scantra. The review is the audit trail we can show grant-makers when they ask whose mission we've supported.
What's the difference between Core, Pro, and Elite for nonprofits?
Core is fully free for verified nonprofits — includes the core compliance, accessibility, and SEO scans. Pro adds advanced security monitoring, team seats, and Pro-tier rule depth at 70% off the for-profit price. Elite adds the GEO add-on, white-glove onboarding, and priority support at 50% off the for-profit price.
What if my organization isn't a 501(c)(3) but is mission-driven?
Apply anyway. The application form has a Public Good category for projects that don't have formal registration but do work in the public interest — community libraries, mutual aid networks, neighborhood associations, etc. We review case-by-case and approve a meaningful share of these.
Is there a catch — what does Scantra get out of this?
Scantra is operated as a program of Violet Organization, a registered 501(c)(3). Serving verified nonprofits at no cost is part of our mission, not a customer-acquisition tactic. We do not upsell Community-tier customers, advertise to them, or sell their data.
Can my organization use Scantra for compliance audits required by grant-makers?
Yes. The exported PDF report includes the date scanned, rule catalogue version, and a signed audit trail suitable for grant-maker review. Several of our Community-tier customers attach the Scantra report to their annual compliance attestations.
